A global law firm in California seeks a Senior Counsel to join its Labor & Employment practice in Los Angeles and Irvine. The role offers significant responsibility for case strategy, direct client interaction, courtroom advocacy, and trial work, with opportunities to mentor junior attorneys.

The ideal candidate will hold a JD, be admitted to the California Bar in good standing, and bring substantial employment litigation experience representing employers, including public entities.

Formación

• JD with a strong academic record.
• Active California Bar in good standing.
• Significant background in labor and employment litigation representing employers.
• Public entity representation strongly preferred.
• Ability to independently manage litigation through all phases.
• Proficient in depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances.
• Strong knowledge of California employment law (FEHA & federal statutes).
• Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong oral advocacy and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentoring and guiding junior associates.

Responsabilidades

• Manage a sophisticated caseload of approximately 10–20 employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Investigate claims, evaluate exposure, and develop case-handling strategies.
• Analyze California state and federal complaints and prepare responses.
• Draft and respond to written discovery; oversee document review and production.
• Conduct substantive legal research and analysis.
• Take and defend expert and fact witness depositions.
• Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and other court filings.
• Attend court hearings and argue motions.
• Prepare pretrial and trial submissions.
• Develop cases for mediation and trial and participate actively.
• Maintain direct communication with clients regarding strategy and developments.
• Co-chair matters proceeding to trial, including cross-examination of witnesses.
• Provide mentorship to junior attorneys.
