Job summary

The National Geographic Society is seeking a Senior Director and Associate General Counsel to provide legal advice on employment matters such as benefits, payroll, and anti-discrimination laws. This role requires collaboration with Senior Leadership and will involve managing claims, conducting internal investigations, and advising on organizational ethical matters.

The ideal candidate will have a JD and a strong background in employment law, with 12+ years of experience, excellent writing skills, and conflict resolution abilities. The position is hybrid, requiring on-site work twice weekly.

Qualifications

• 12+ years law firm or in-house experience in employment law counseling.
• Experience in employment litigation or dispute resolution.
• Demonstrated knowledge of anti-discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

• Advise on NGS policies and practices related to employment and anti-discrimination laws.
• Manage employment-related claims and outside counsel.
• Conduct internal investigations and provide reports.
