Senior Employee Relations Manager

As Senior Employee Relations Manager, you will develop policies and practices to navigate complex employee situations such as conflicts, performance issues, and investigations, ensuring fairness and consistency globally. You will guide People teams and collaborate across the organization to manage employment matters effectively, fostering trust and employee experience. Partnering with Legal and Global People Partners, you will create standard approaches, processes, and resources for employee relations and compliance. Your role is vital in proactively enhancing manager effectiveness and organizational health through data-driven insights and employee advocacy.

What We're Looking For
What You'll Do:
  1. Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and developing best practices in employee relations and compliance.
  2. Develop resources, tools, and standards for employee relations, including counseling, documentation, policy interpretation, and investigations.
  3. Advise leaders, managers, and HR partners on employee issues, providing coaching and expertise.
  4. Provide expertise in global regulatory areas (EEO, ADA, OFCCP, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, etc.).
  5. Improve existing employment policies and develop new policies as needed.
  6. Design and draft employee-facing and HR compliance policies in partnership with Legal.
  7. Create communication and training materials to educate staff on policies and processes.
  8. Respond to and investigate employee concerns; oversee investigations and communicate updates to leadership.
  9. Ensure global policies and practices comply with employment laws and regulations.
  10. Partner on organizational changes and employee exits.
  11. Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to organizational effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in employee relations, investigations, employment law, or workplace compliance, with a track record of resolving complex employee issues.
  • Experience partnering with HR and legal teams to develop policies and programs.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Consultative approach with experience advising stakeholders and executives.
  • Objectivity, empathy, and sound judgment in handling sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues related to employee relations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in U.S. and local employment laws (Title VII, ADEA, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, EEOC, etc.) and an interest in global HR compliance.
  • Experience with international employee protections and regulatory environments.
  • Familiarity with HR technology and case management tools like Ethics Point and Google Docs.
Work Hours and Location

This role requires availability during core business hours. It is based in San Francisco, CA, Denver, CO, or New York, NY, with a hybrid work model. Travel may be required.

Compensation and Benefits

Estimated salary range: $139,830 to $186,444. Fastly offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), stock purchase, paid holidays, wellness days, and more.
