Job description

Job Overview

This position is responsible for developing resolutions to Employee Relations/Labor issues by providing advice, research, and guidance to management and employees, utilizing advanced skills and knowledge of employment law and labor law. It applies experience in problem resolution and investigations and effectively leads diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field.
  2. Five (5) years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
  2. Seven (7) years of experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations.
  3. Certification in Human Resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provides advice, consultation, and direction to leaders to resolve complex employee/labor relations issues involving discipline, corrective action, appeals, and grievances.
  2. Develops and modifies Employee Relations communication programs, providing advice and support to enhance communication.
  3. Conducts internal investigations and prepares reports.
  4. Works with leadership, payroll, and HR colleagues on collective bargaining agreement interpretation and administration.
  5. Manages union contract administration, including grievance investigations and responses.
  6. Prepares for grievance hearings, arbitrations, and administrative hearings, serving as a witness when necessary.
  7. Supports Leave Administration issues as needed.
  8. Collaborates on policy development.
  9. Organizes employee recognition events.
  10. Maintains positive relationships with peers and colleagues to foster a productive work environment.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Standard office environment with typical equipment.
  2. Largely sedentary role; may involve walking, standing, reaching, stairs, and operating office equipment.
  3. Frequent communication required.
  4. Ability to see and read computer displays and fine print.
  5. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
