Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks an Emissions and OBD Engine Calibration Verification Engineer to verify and validate emissions and OBD calibrations. You will develop calibration solutions, establish verification methods, and ensure regulatory readiness before testing and vehicle launch.

The role requires a strong powertrain controls background, data-driven decision making, and collaboration with calibration, software, and certification teams. Travel up to 15% is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• 8+ years automotive engineering experience.
• 5+ years of emissions, OBD, aftertreatment development, powertrain controls, calibration, or durability engineering experience.
• Demonstrated success developing emissions and OBD engine calibrations.
• Strong understanding of engine calibration development processes, verification methodologies, and production launch support.

Responsibilities

• Verify and validate engine emissions and OBD calibrations.
• Develop calibration solutions for issues discovered during verification.
• Define verification strategies and ensure readiness before certification testing.
• Perform emissions, OBD, drivability, diagnostic, and regulatory compliance testing.
• Support EPA, CARB, and global regulatory pre-certification activities.
• Lead investigations of emissions and OBD issues and coordinate cross-functional root-cause analyses.
• Mentor engineers and drive preventive actions across calibration programs.
