Job summary

Meta is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and optimize firmware for AR/VR and wearables. You will work on low-level systems, device drivers, and connectivity protocols such as Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth, collaborating with cross-functional teams on features for immersive experiences.

The role involves hardware bring up, performance profiling, and integration of components from multiple teams to deliver unified product code bases across AR/VR and social/family devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years software development experience in industry settings or PhD with 4+ years of experience.
• 3+ years embedded software development experience in industry settings.
• Experience in large-scale C/C++ code base.
• Experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership for software engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement software components at all layers of the system, including kernel and I/O systems.
• Develop drivers and services for high-volume data with low latency and high bandwidth.
• Lead hardware bring up, peripheral drivers, silicon integration, and power/performance optimization.
• Debug complex, multi-component system issues spanning kernel to application.
• Profile performance and optimize across the software stack.
• Integrate software components from multiple partner teams into a unified product code base.
• Develop firmware for devices with sensing/imaging, haptic, and audio prototypes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance wireless stacks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular, UWB).
