Job summary

HP Inc. is seeking a Senior USB Firmware Developer in Austin to design and build firmware for Android-based video conferencing devices. You’ll work in a collaborative, agile environment and apply deep expertise in USB stacks and embedded software.

You will lead secure, high-performance C/C++ applications, mentor others, and partner with cross-functional teams to define architecture and best practices, while advancing HP’s next generation of collaboration devices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with embedded systems.
• Proficiency in embedded C/C++.
• Knowledge of Android internals and Linux preferred.
• Experience with firmware development and debugging in embedded environments.
• Network and security protocols, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative firmware for Android-based video conferencing devices.
• Lead the development of secure, scalable, and high-performance embedded C/C++ applications.

What you’ll do

Design and develop innovative firmware for Android-based video conferencing devices.

In depth, hands-on, and extensive experience and knowledge on the full USB software stack is must-have

Build and enhance Android platform capabilities below the framework layer.

Lead the development of secure, scalable, and high-performance embedded C/C++ applications.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture, standards, and best practices.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues in embedded environments.

Contribute to project planning, documentation, and testing strategies.

Mentor junior engineers and share your expertise across the team.

Drive continuous improvement through agile and lean development practices.

What you bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on embedded systems.

Proficiency in embedded C/C++.

Experience with firmware development and debugging in embedded environments.

Knowledge in following areas is a plus:

Network and security protocols

Bluetooth

Wi-Fi

Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

A passion for learning, innovation, and delivering high-quality solutions.

Understanding of Android internals and Linux is preferred.

The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills.
