Job summary

Sonos is seeking an experienced firmware engineer to design and implement real-time system software for embedded audio devices. You will bring up bootloaders and embedded Linux across ARM-based platforms, and work with BSPs, SDKs, and OS modules.

In a hybrid role based in Boston or Seattle, you will collaborate with hardware and software teams, contribute to BSP validation, and drive testing of unit and integration components while solving platform issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (CS/EE/CE)
• 5+ years of firmware/system software experience for embedded systems
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and embedded Linux
• Experience with U-Boot boot flows and driver development

Responsibilities

• Design and implement real-time system software architectures for embedded audio systems
• Bring up, debug, and maintain bootloader (U-Boot) and embedded Linux across new hardware
• Lead early board bring-up and debug for ARM SoCs, WiSoCs, BT SoCs, and MCUs
• Integrate vendor SDKs, BSP components, and OS modules into build and release processes
• Develop and maintain HAL libraries for hardware-to-user-space interfaces
• Identify platform gaps and drive improvements for faster prototyping
• Contribute to BSP validation and system-level debugging
• Define and document unit and integration tests for system software
• Collaborate with silicon vendors to resolve platform issues across CPU/radio SoCs
• Support hardware teams with debugging and OS/platform modernization efforts
