DESE Research, Inc. is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to ensure thorough test coverage, qualification, and validation of target flight software in a defense-focused environment.

The role requires collaboration across software, systems engineering, and verification teams, with emphasis on compliance to safety standards (e.g., DO-178C) and mission assurance testing.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software verification and validation experience including testing frameworks, requirement management tracking, and test script generation.
• Experience verifying embedded tactical code or safety-critical validation testing and/or using code coverage analysis tools on physical processing chips.
• Familiarity with software-specific safety regulations and certification parameters.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with system requirements and specifications of the design and development of testing pipelines for embedded system software.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, and verification teams, to evaluate operational safety metrics.
• Define and document the software testing scope, functional verification criteria, and boundary conditions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry software standards (such as DO-178C), military regulations, and rigorous mission assurance testing guidelines.
• Support test plans and procedure development to verify the structural coverage and structural logic limits of flight code.
• Support the troubleshooting and resolution of any code bugs, memory leaks, or operational crashes caught during integration loops.

Senior Embedded Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer

DESE Research is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the successful test coverage, qualification, and validation of target flight software.

Position is contingent upon contract award.

The successful candidate will:

• Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify safety-critical software compliance across the interceptor validation lifecycle.
• Evaluate customer/operational needs to define software test parameters, coordinate flight software requirements, and assure complete test coverage of functional characteristics.
• Perform various analyses to optimize software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing pipelines and test automation architectures.
• Perform analyses for software reliability, logic branch coverage, boundary conditions, fault injection handling, timing constraints, cybersecurity compliance, and other specialties that factor into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.

Required Qualifications:

• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or a related discipline
• Experience verifying embedded tactical code or performing safety-critical validation testing AND/OR Experience using code coverage analysis tools on physical processing chips.
• Software verification and validation experience (6+ years) including testing frameworks, requirement management tracking, and test script generation.
• Familiarity with software-specific safety regulations and certification parameters.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in testing software for missile avionics, flight control processors, or safety-critical military tech.
• Knowledge of static and dynamic code diagnostic packages (e.g., VectorCAST, LDRA, DOORS).
• Proficiency in using engineering software tools for modeling, simulation, and analysis (e.g., C/C++, Python, Jira).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to isolate code flaws from underlying electrical infrastructure glitches.
