Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Annapolis, MD, seeks a Manager of Embedded Software Engineering 2 to lead a 10–12 person team developing SONAR software for production and new business pursuits. The role blends people leadership with hands-on project and technical participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM related field with 8 years of experience in a software engineering discipline; OR a Masters degree in a STEM related field with 6 years of experience in a software engineering discipline.
• Experience in a technical leadership role on a software project
• Experience with developing embedded software
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• High proficiency in technical problem solving, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development and monitoring
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Top Secret and Special Access clearances may be required

Responsibilities

• Lead a Software functional group of 10 to 12 engineers including performance management and staffing.
• Collaborate across business areas to accomplish team goals.
• Work with Managers of other engineering disciplines and Program Managers.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and leadership.
• Provide project and technical oversight for design activities.
• Develop proposal inputs and review proposal content for customers.
• Support technology roadmap creation and cross-campus involvement.
• Support recruiting, interviewing and hiring processes.
• Foster employee engagement and knowledge sharing.
