D3 Embedded in Rochester, NY is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of firmware for embedded systems. You will architect software, debug complex issues, and drive high-performance, reliable solutions while mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires extensive experience with C/C++, RTOS, Linux (Ubuntu/Yocto), and SoC architectures, plus strong problem-solving and leadership skills in a fast-paced product environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of embedded software experience.
• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read schematics and debug hardware using oscilloscope/logic analyzer.
• Experience writing embedded device drivers and debugging embedded platforms.
• Knowledge of embedded software/Firmware in C/C++ and Embedded Linux (kernel drivers, device tree).
• Experience with Git and GCC/GNU toolchain.
• Experience with embedded camera and video processing is desirable.
• Self-driven, system-oriented, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of product development from requirements to verification.
• Architect, design, and implement firmware for embedded systems.
• Debug complex issues and optimize performance and reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical direction.
• Develop and evaluate plans, and oversee hardware bring-up and software integration.
• Work with Embedded Linux platforms and open-source SDKs, GCC toolchain.
