Job summary

QuidelOrtho is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Embedded Systems to lead the design and development of next-generation diagnostic platforms. You will guide requirements, architecture, and implementation across real-time embedded software and hardware systems.

The role collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, regulatory compliance, and product readiness. Remote eligible; San Diego, CA candidates are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science or related field.
• 10 years of embedded systems software development experience.
• Expert-level C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with Git or SVN repositories.
• Experience developing in Linux environments.
• Experience working on Agile development teams.
• Strong OO design principles and design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of software components and subsystems per requirements.
• Influence architecture decisions across projects and teams.
• Develop and review code to add functionality and improve quality.
• Provide estimates, input, and risk analysis for planning.
• Gather and document software requirements and specs.
• Implement unit tests to meet coverage goals.
• Debug and fix defects in implementation and test stages.
• Lead complex system integration across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Drive software process improvements for quality and efficiency.
• Support release readiness and cross-functional alignment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
