Job summary

Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking an experienced Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to lead real-time signal processing efforts for tactical communications. You will guide FPGA/firmware development, develop interfaces between hardware and embedded systems, and contribute to DoD-sponsored programs with emphasis on performance and reliability.

You will mentor teams, design robust software processes, and collaborate on proposals and technical documents to advance national security

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in embedded software and related R&D domains.
• Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and verifying embedded software/firmware with C, C++, Python, Linux, VxWorks, VHDL, SystemVerilog.
• At least 5 years in leading or mentoring engineers or multidisciplinary technical teams.
• Experience with requirements development, system architecture, simulation, and verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead embedded software teams, manage schedules and budgets.
• Evaluate and merge software written by supervised developers.
• Guide programs to improve common embedded capabilities and efficiency.
• Design new embedded software processes or improve existing ones.
• Contribute to proposals and white papers.
• Provide level-of-effort estimates for large programs.
• Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and test infrastructure.
• Lead architecture studies, design reviews, and technical demonstrations.
• Mentor researchers, engineers, students, and project personnel.
• Prepare technical reports and customer deliverables for sponsored research.
