Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer to develop embedded HMI systems using Qt/C++ and Python. You will build custom Yocto Linux distributions and manage embedded cybersecurity initiatives, supported by rigorous testing and thorough documentation.

This role requires leadership in cross-functional projects, strong mentoring skills, and the ability to drive architecture decisions for robust industrial software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 5+ years embedded software development, with 2+ years in senior or lead roles.
• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code/design reviews.
• Strong testing experience (TDD, unit tests) in embedded environments.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, Qt/C++, and web-based app development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance Qt/C++ applications for embedded HMI systems.
• Create responsive, touch-optimized interfaces using Qt Quick/QML.
• Develop cross-platform apps for embedded Linux and desktop environments.
• Build and maintain custom Yocto Linux distributions for industrial devices.
• Lead architecture decisions and mentor junior engineers.
