Job summary

IDEXX in Westbrook, ME is seeking a low-level Embedded Software Engineer in the Instrument Software Research and Development group to design, implement, and validate embedded solutions that enable control of complex electro-mechanical subsystems.

This onsite role requires full-time presence at our Westbrook, ME location and involves working with electrical engineers and other embedded software engineers to develop, test, and document new devices from prototype through production release.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with C/C++, bootloaders, and firmware development.
• Experience with Python and Bash in Linux.
• Ability to debug across bring-up, validation, and production phases.
• Able to read and interpret board schematics.
• Familiarity with embedded protocols (I2C, SPI, USB, PCIe).
• Fluency in English and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs, develops, and maintains Linux drivers, BSPs, and Yocto-based distributions.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests; contribute to CI pipeline development.
• Supports software/firmware/hardware integration to deliver functional solutions.
• Coordinates with development teams through design, prototype, and production release phases.
