Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Alameda, CA, within the Diabetes Care division. You will drive embedded product software development, build CI/CD pipelines, and own software design and test infrastructure to meet FDA quality standards.

You will lead cross-functional teams, resolve complex technical issues, and contribute to scalable device driver designs in C/C++ for safety-critical medical devices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of experience in a related technical discipline, or 7+ years with a master's, or 2+ years with a doctorate.
• BA or BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar disciplines.
• Knowledge of embedded software system design, C, C++, RTOS, device driver interfaces, SPI, UART, and memory management.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket CI, GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for embedded software projects.
• Contribute to software system designs including architecture definitions and module interfaces.
• Design and document test infrastructure for ease of use and flexibility.
• Interact with test engineers to ensure robust, high-quality software.
