Job summary

Verkada Inc. is seeking an experienced Embedded Engineer to build and maintain software and firmware for our hardware devices. You will own features end-to-end, from scoping and architecture through implementation, testing, and production launches, collaborating with hardware and cloud teams.

You should have 5+ years in embedded engineering, strong C/C++, and experience with FreeRTOS and Embedded Linux. This onsite role requires five days per week at our California location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/EE or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of embedded engineering experience
• Proficient in C and C++
• Experience owning software features end-to-end with production launches
• Experience with SW development on hardware products and low-level interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART), FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux
• Ability to read schematics
• Willing and able to work onsite five days per week

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain embedded software and firmware for devices we ship to customers.
• Own features end to end, from scoping and architecture through implementation, testing, and production launch.
• Develop and debug software for Linux-based devices, including connectivity and networking features.
• Work with product management, hardware, and cloud teams to define and ship features that improve the customer experience.
• Share knowledge with teammates and mentor other engineers.
• There may also be opportunities to contribute to cloud services, depending on your interests.

What You Bring

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or closely related degree or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of work experience in an embedded engineering role
• Proficient in C, C++
• Experience in owning SW features or projects end to end with production launch
• Experience in SW development on HW products, for example, working knowledge of common low-level interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, working knowledge of FreeRTOS and Embedded Linux
• Experience reading schematics (basic EE skills)
• Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week

Nice To Have

• Experience with networking or wireless communication protocols
• Proficient in Go

Annual Pay Range

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs)

Below is the annual on-target earnings (OTE) range for full-time employees for this position, comprised of base compensation and commissions (if applicable).
