Job summary

Microchip Technology Inc. in Hauppauge, NY seeks a Senior Engineer with 5–7 years of embedded firmware experience to develop bootloader features, test suites, and hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART) on ARM Cortex cores.

You will design firmware architecture, write unit tests, work with validation and QA, and help bring parts to production using test boards and FPGA environments. Travel 0–25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Firmware development experience for embedded systems on ARM controllers
• Experience with embedded C/C++ and bootloader design
• Familiarity with debugging tools and lab equipment for hardware/software integration
• Knowledge of interfaces: I2C, SPI, UART, USB
• Exposure to security crypto algorithms (AES, HASH, ECC) and PQC
• Experience with FPGA or development platforms
• Ability to document software design and participate in risk assessments

Responsibilities

• Firmware architecture—define and outline firmware structure per spec
• Develop and modify code for new/legacy products using embedded C/C++
• Maintain software design and test documentation
• Write test reports for new features
• Develop test firmware and unit tests for features
• Establish firmware guidelines and best practices
• Collaborate with Validation, Test, QA for production readiness
• Conduct software requirements and risk analyses
