Job summary

Symbotic in Wilmington, MA is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain the middleware layer for mobile robots. You will own features and provide expertise in inter-process communication, process management, and bot logging in an agile environment.

You will lead middleware design on robotic platforms, build logging and telemetry infrastructure, and ensure reliable data exchange and supervision of robot services in both physical and simulated environments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in computer science, robotics, engineering, or related field.
  • Experience building production-quality software in C++.
  • Strong understanding of Linux systems, process management, networking, IPC and system services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of middleware on robotic platforms.
  • Design and develop middleware components for robotics systems.
  • Build and maintain logging, diagnostics, telemetry, and observability infrastructure.
  • Develop process management systems for launching, monitoring, restarting, and supervising robotic software services.

What we need

You will work with a team of engineers andbe responsible forfeature ownership, providing technicalexpertisein areas such asinter process communication, process management, and bot logging. We are looking for a person whothrivesin a creative, collaborative, and agile developmentenvironment.

What we do

We are a talented team of roboticists and software engineers responsible for all software and firmware aspects of our mobile robots. These mobile robotsare responsible forhandling cartons inside the warehouse structure, moving them to and from storage locations. The mobile robots are key to the efficient operation of theSymboticsystems, and their reliability is paramount.

What you'll do

  • Lead and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of middleware on our robotic platforms.

  • Design and develop middleware components for robotics systems

What you'll need

Nice to Have

Our environment

  • Up to 10% of travel may berequired. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employeeis responsible forowning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $149,000.00 - $204,600.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
