Job summary

Moog Inc. in Santa Barbara is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to design, code, and integrate software for turreted systems. The role includes debugging and expanding capabilities in lab and field environments, with a focus on scalable, high-performance software and documentation.

The position follows a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off, and candidates should be eligible for a U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering; other BS may be considered with extra experience in real-time control software.
• Minimum 5 years in embedded real-time control software design/development/test; 7+ years preferred.
• C language mandatory; Java a plus.
• RTOS and embedded Linux experience preferred.

Role

To be considered for the Senior Embedded Software Engineer role, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering desired.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in other engineering fields may be considered with appropriate additional experience in the design/development/test of real-time control software.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design/development/test of embedded real-time control software.
  • 7+ years of relevant technical experience preferred.
• C language (java a plus)
• OS experience, especially RTOS (bare metal and embedded Linux a plus)
• Experience with communication protocol drivers and stacks (networking, 1553, UART, SPI, I2C, etc.)
• Read and understand electronic part data sheets, electrical schematics, communication protocol documents.
• Experience in Unix internals, low level driver software, communication interface software as well as GUI software is a plus.
• Ability to travel approximately 10-15%.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

As Our Senior Embedded Software Engineer, You Will

• Design, code, debug, and integrate new capabilities for our new and existing turreted weapons systems (RIwP)
• Debug issues with existing systems
• Integration of new capabilities both in the Systems Integration Lab and in the field.
• Design and architect software that meets scalability, performance and modularity requirements
• Deliver executable software that meets quality and performance requirements
• Deliver other software work products (documentation) that meet contractual requirements
• Provide status reporting to management during project execution

Salary Range Transparency

Santa Barbara, CA $135,000.00–$185,000.00 Annually
