Job summary

Silvus is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the Engineering Group in Irvine. The role covers device drivers, networking services, encryption, and security features for MANET radios and related research projects.

You will implement the MAC layer, routing protocols, and network management interfaces, while ensuring compliance with security standards. Strong C and Linux kernel experience are essential, with ARMy/ RISC-V BSP work and Linux scripting a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer or Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant engineering field.
  • Expertise in C programming and Linux kernel drive development.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Implement software portions of MAC and mobile ad-hoc networking protocols.
  • Develop network management software and web interfaces.
  • Implement security protocols and encryption algorithms (e.g., IPsec).
  • Develop audio streaming and push-to-talk applications.
  • Analyze and improve product security and robustness per regulatory standards (NIST FIPS 140-3, NIAP).
  • Develop and test device drivers and board support packages for ARM and RISC-V systems.
  • Customize Linux systems and scripting for deployment.

Job description

  • Silvus is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our Engineering Group, reporting to the Senior Engineering Director for Irvine with dotted-line reporting to the Director of Software Engineering. The successful individual in this role will participate in the development of Silvus’ MANET radios and advanced research projects
  • This is an opportunity to work on all aspects of the system including device drivers, networking functions and services, encryption, and security features
  • The following is a list of at least some of the current essential job functions of the position. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities at any time at its discretion
  • Implementation of software portion of MAC (Medium Access Control) and mobile ad-hoc networking routing protocols
  • Network management software and web interface implementation
  • Implementation of different security protocols and encryption algorithms
  • Audio streaming and push to talk voice application implementation
  • Analyze and improve product security and robustness to meet certain regulatory requirements such as NIST FIPS 140-3 and NIAP Common Criteria
  • Implementation of testing software for product performance and reliability testing
  • Device drivers and board support package development and maintenance for both ARM and RISC-V based systems
  • Linux system customization and scripting
  • Perform other related duties of which the above are representative

  • Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. when receiving incoming part shipments
