Job summary

HP Tuners LLC seeks a Staff Embedded Software Engineer for our Buffalo Grove, IL office to design and implement embedded software across prototype to production hardware. You will shape architecture, write firmware, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver cutting-edge automotive products.

The role emphasizes leadership in software engineering, system-level thinking, and hands-on prototyping with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of embedded C/C++ programming and debugging with OO design knowledge.
• Experience with Embedded Linux and Yocto is a plus; strong debugging skills.
• Proven track record solving complex problems and meeting timelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative full system embedded architecture and software solutions for new products.
• Balance functional requirements with maintainability, scalability, and cost.
• Collaborate with hardware team on testing and prototypes bring-up.
• Lead software projects and mentor other engineers.
• Perform peer code reviews and contribute to product planning and concepts.
• Research new technologies and provide engineering recommendations.
