Job summary

The MITRE Corporation in the United States is seeking a Senior Firmware Vulnerability Researcher to tackle embedded security challenges across national missions. You will reverse engineer, research vulnerabilities, and develop proof-of-concept exploits, working hands-on to deliver mission-ready capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field with related experience.
• Expertise in reverse engineering software binaries and embedded firmware.
• Experience with disassemblers, debuggers, and firmware unpacking.
• Experience with embedded processor architectures, preferably ARM.
• Experience in modern binary exploitation techniques and vulnerability analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication; US citizen with active Secret/Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Reverse engineer and perform vulnerability research on complex embedded system software.
• Prototype capabilities in hardware and software (e.g., proof-of-concept exploits).
• Research threats to embedded systems and countermeasures.
• Provide technical leadership within project teams and define research approaches.
• Design and lead efforts to build software infrastructure and tools for reverse engineering and security capability development.
• Communicate approach, risks, and results to MITRE program leaders and customers.
• Mentor junior engineers in reverse engineering and vulnerability research.
