Job summary

Zebra Technologies is seeking an embedded firmware engineer for its Lincolnshire, IL office. This hybrid role requires on-site presence for a minimum of three days per week and involves developing firmware for Thermal printer platforms, researching new technologies, and leading firmware design efforts.

You will work with ARM-based MCUs, RTOS, and embedded Linux, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable products. A strong background in C/C++ and device drivers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Master’s in engineering with relevant experience.
• Significant embedded firmware development experience for platform products.
• Proven experience in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with ARM architecture, embedded microcontrollers, multi-core systems, RTOS, embedded Linux, filesystems, storage, networking.
• Skills in platform architecture, OOP, software design patterns, and device driver development.

Responsibilities

• Establishes, implements, and maintains embedded firmware for Thermal printer products and solutions.
• Research, design and develop new technology for platform in support of strategy.
• Lead requirements meetings for moderately complex firmware design projects.
• Complete all phases of moderately complex firmware design projects.
• Review firmware test results and resolve complex issues.
