Job summary

Emerson is seeking a qualified embedded software engineer in Shakopee, MN to design, develop, and maintain firmware for industrial instrumentation and connectivity solutions. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Five (5) or more years of applicable experience
• Ability to meet with globally distributed team members occasionally
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for instrumentation.
• Contribute to architecture of wired and wireless communication across Emerson’s instrument portfolio.
• Develop software for distributed embedded systems using modern microcontrollers, processors, OS, and networking.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, cloud, cybersecurity, and product engineering teams throughout the lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, firmware, and communication issues and drive root-cause resolution.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to proof-of-concept and innovation initiatives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, software requirements, design specifications, and verification plans.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD processes.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within project teams.
• Collaborate with globally distributed teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
