Emerson in Elyria, OH is seeking a Senior Engineer, Embedded Systems to collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software teams on firmware for professional tools with embedded electronics such as BLDC motor control and BLE connectivity.

The role emphasizes leading system design, evaluating new technologies, mentoring engineers, and driving quality across global tool platforms within our Professional Tools division.

• Bachelor's degree required in electrical/computer engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of firmware development experience.

Responsabilidades

• Drive adoption of Generative AI tools to accelerate firmware development and improve quality.
• Design, develop, and sustain firmware for tools with embedded electronics (BLDC, BLE).
• Lead system design including architecture and requirements development.
• Perform feasibility assessments and risk evaluations for new products.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and tools.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure software quality and delivery.
• Mentor junior engineers through hands-on problem solving and debugging.
• Provide timely communication on issues and risks.
• Support field investigations, manufacturing, and supply chain issues through the product lifecycle.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Drive the adoption of Generative AI tools (such as GitHub Copilot or automated code review frameworks) to accelerate the firmware development lifecycle and enhance code quality.
• Design, develop, and sustain firmware for professional tools with embedded electronics, including BLDC-motor control and BLE connectivity.
• Lead system design, including architecture design and system requirements development.
• Conduct concept feasibility assessments and technical risk evaluations for new products.
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies and tools.
• Provide technical leadership to uphold software quality standards by defining best practices, driving process improvements, and guiding a global development team toward consistent delivery
• Mentor junior engineers, including hands-on problem solving, and debugging.
• Provide timely communications on significant issues, risks or developments
• Support field investigations, manufacturing, and supply chain issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience with firmware development
• Legal authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

• Experience evaluating and implementing AI-driven solutions to improve system diagnostics or optimize embedded software performance.
• Knowledge of embedded systems design (drivers, RTOS, ISRs, etc.) and related languages including C/C++ and Python.
• Experience designing firmware architecture and modular code used across multiple products.
• Experience with agile development methods and dev ops including source control, integrated unit testing, and builds.
• Ability to read schematics and perform basic measurements and testing of hardware.
• Knowledge of functional safety compliance standards.
• Experience leading projects, breaking down and estimating work, and supporting team members.
