Job summary

AXON is seeking a firmware engineer to join a small team building high-performance, mission-critical embedded devices. You will develop embedded networking firmware for Linux- and Android-based platforms, focusing on low latency and robust performance.

The role requires 5+ years in Embedded Android/Embedded Linux, strong C/C++, and exposure to QoS and real-time media. This hybrid Manhattan role includes relocation assistance and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience with Embedded Android and/or Embedded Linux development.
• Solid programming experience with C/C++ and/or Rust.
• Hands-on expertise in real-time media architecture with strict latency budgets.
• Experience with QoS frameworks and media signaling.
• Systems-level edge development for rugged, resource-constrained embedded devices.
• Ability to own and operate in an early-stage, ambiguous product environment.
• Bonus: experience networking in a constrained embedded device; ability to tune cellular networks.

What You'll Do

You'll work on a small team building high-performance, mission-critical devices with low-latency communication requirements. Axon has a portfolio of robust imaging and communication products that help law enforcement do their jobs and keep people safe every day. In this role, you'll develop embedded networking firmware for Linux- and Android-based platforms.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 5+ years of industry experience with Embedded Android and/or Embedded Linux development
• Solid programming experience with C/C++ and/or Rust
• Hands-on expertise in real-time media architecture with demonstrated success hitting strict latency budgets
• Experience with QoS frameworks and media signaling
• Systems-level edge development experience building software for rugged, resource-constrained embedded devices
• Comfortable operating with a high degree of ownership and ambiguity in an early-stage, new product environment
• Bonus Experience working on networking in a constrained embedded device
• Ability to tune cellular networks

Base Pay Range $141,000 - $227,700 USD
