Job summary

Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer to define control strategies for Brewer Appliances.

You will develop experimental control algorithms for embedded systems and liaise between controls hardware and software teams, influencing new features and product performance. Join a cross-functional environment where you’ll design, test, and optimize control solutions, contribute toDevTools, and participate in development planning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Strong experience with software development and algorithm implementation on embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++, or similar OO languages.
  • Familiarity with source control systems, debugging tools, compilers, and SDLC tools.
  • Familiarity with feedback, feed-forward, and model-based control schemes.
  • Experience with thermal and fluid control elements: heaters, pumps, valves, etc.
  • Hands-on experimentation, instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Systems Engineering practices (DOE, 8D, etc.).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

  • Design, modify, optimize, and implement Brewer control algorithms on embedded software platforms.
  • Develop and maintain design guides and specifications for control algorithms, Dev-Tools, components, and subsystems.
  • Maintain adherence to coding standards and ensure new algorithms integrate into production code.
  • Work in an Agile environment; participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional integration.
  • Interface between controls/hardware and embedded software teams; provide mentorship and collaboration.
  • Create/modify Dev & Test Tools to support parameter-based software development and debugging.
  • Build and maintain control algorithm and developer tool code repositories with proper documentation and version control.
  • Provide Systems Engineering leadership; perform DOE, structured experimentation, and validation planning.
  • Support Value Engineering and maintenance: quality improvements, cost optimization, and complexity reduction.

Job description

As part of Keurig Dr Pepper’s Product Design & Engineering organization, the Sr. Controls Engineer will work within cross-functional teams to define controls solutions and strategies for our current and next generation Brewer Appliances. In this role, you will develop and modify experimental control algorithms for embedded systems, while also serving as a critical liaison between our controls/hardware development team and our embedded software team. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will directly impact the development of new product features and innovations that enhance system product performance and deliver differentiated customer experience.

What You Will Do:
  • Design, modify, optimize, and implement Brewer Control Algorithms on embedded software platforms for consumer and commercial products.
  • Develop and maintain design guides and specifications for Control Algorithms, Dev-Tools, Components, and Sub-Systems.
  • Maintain adherence to internal coding standards and software development best practices; Ensure that newly developed algorithms are seamlessly integrated and maintained within the production code base.
  • Work within an Agile development environment; Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and cross functional integration events.
  • Serve as an interface between the controls/hardware development team and the embedded software team; Provide technical support and mentorship; Collaborate cross-functionally to define system requirements and resolve integration and system performance challenges.
  • Create and/or modify Dev & Test Tools to support parameter-based SW development and debug: Push-button control, scripting, flashing, data logging, diagnostics...etc
  • Build, manage, and maintain Control Algorithm and Developer Tool code repositories; Ensure proper visibility, documentation, version control, and compatibility with associated platforms and products.
  • Provide Systems Engineering leadership; Formal & Functional system decomposition, Failure mode analysis, structured experimentation, and phased validation planning
  • Support Value Engineering & Maintenance of Business Teams in delivering continuous improvements to existing product lines: Quality Improvements, Cost Optimization, and Complexity Reduction

Total Rewards:
  • Salary Range: $76,400 - $140,000
  • Actual placement within the compensation range may vary depending on experience, skills, and other factors
  • Benefits, subject to election and eligibility: Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Paid Time Off (including paid parental leave, vacation, and sick time), 401k with company match, Tuition Reimbursement, and Mileage Reimbursement
  • Annual bonus based on performance and eligibility
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong experience with software development and algorithm implementation on embedded systems
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Familiarity with source control systems, debugging tools, compilers, and other SDLC tools.
  • Familiarity with feed-back, feed-forward, and model-based control schemes of mechanical and thermal systems.
  • Experience with thermal and fluid control elements: heaters, pumps, valves, flow-meters, NTC’s...etc.
  • Strong Experience with hands-on experimentation, instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis.
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Systems Engineering practices including Design of Experiments, Structured Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis, A3, 8D... etc.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; Ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive self-starter mindset; Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel both domestically & internationally, up to 15% of the time.
