Job summary

EMI is seeking an Electronics Technician III to independently assemble and wire the most complex equipment from controlled drawings and work instructions. This senior role owns workmanship, self-inspection, records, QC handoff, and mentoring junior technicians.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings and specs, performing wiring, routing, testing readiness, and documenting conforming results while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical education or military electronics training preferred.
  • Approximately 7-10 years of progressive electronics or electromechanical assembly experience.
  • Proven ability to independently build complex equipment from drawings and schematics.
  • Controlled manufacturing or quality-system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire complex equipment, panels, enclosures, subassemblies, and harnesses.
  • Interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, specs, and work instructions; verify revisions and materials.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, terminate, route, label, and secure wiring; install connectors and hardware.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe panels to approved docs; ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Self-inspect components, connections, polarity, labeling, routing, hardware, torque, and workmanship.
  • Transfer finished equipment to QC for power-up and functional testing; document rework.
  • Document nonconforming material, workmanship issues; avoid unauthorized changes.
  • Support prototype and revised builds; provide engineering feedback on assembly and docs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas; follow quality, ESD, safety, and instructions.
  • Mentor Electronics Technician I and II; communicate shortages and risks.
