Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a senior electronics mechanical designer in Huntsville, AL to develop space-grade electronic enclosures. You will drive structural, thermal and vibration analyses, interface definitions, and hardware release workflows for cutting-edge space hardware.

You will collaborate with product, manufacturing, and business teams to validate requirements and mature designs from concept to fabrication, leveraging your 7+ years of experience and strong GD&T knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 7+ years of experience with structural analysis.
• Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
• Strong understanding of structural analysis/mechanics.
• Working knowledge of 3D CAD programs.
• Experience with GD&T implementation and analysis (ASME Y14.5).
• Ability to work effectively in teams.
• Ability to be self-directed and balance several tasks at one time.
• Ability to communicate analysis results effectively.
• Experience with ruggedized electronics enclosures or similar high performance hardware.

About this Role

The product team is looking for a senior electronics mechanical designer to create the next generation of space electronic enclosures. You will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions, introduce new materials, validate mission requirements and manufacture cutting edge technology that is ready for space. You will also be the subject matter expert that will identify and resolve design problems before they become reality. This role will interface with product, manufacturing and business development teams and will have the opportunity to impact company objectives.

Responsibilities
