Job summary

Smurfit WestRock in Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Senior Electronic Technician to join the Maintenance/Engineering team on a full-time, on-site basis.

You will diagnose, repair and maintain complex electrical and electronic systems, including PLCs, HMIs, drives and sensors. Requires 5+ years in industry, proficiency with Allen‑Bradley/Siemens PLCs, electrical schematics, and documentation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Requires associate degree or technical certification in electronics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in troubleshooting PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and automation systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes, safety practices, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and control systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Install, configure, and calibrate instrumentation and control devices.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
