Job summary

nLIGHT DEFENSE Systems, Inc. in Longmont, CO is seeking Electro-Optical (EO) Engineers to join the Mission Modeling group. You will model and simulate directed energy systems to inform architecture trades and drive key performance requirements across the full program life cycle.

You will analyze data from field tests to anchor models and support troubleshooting. The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience, a Master’s degree (PhD preferred), and the ability to work across disciplines while

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Engineering/Science; PhD preferred.
7+ years of experience in EO/laser or related field.
Experience mentoring engineers and technicians.
Ability to obtain/hold U.S. DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Develop and exercise laser system performance modeling and analysis tools.
Engage with customer technical teams as a system architecture & performance expert.
Support proposals and early program execution with novel architecture concepts.
Identify key parameters for anchored predictions of field performance and review test setups.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to understand sub-system trades and system performance.
Support Systems Engineering in developing anchored, traceable performance requirements.
Provide on-site and remote technical leadership during field tests and data analysis.
