Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an Electro-Optical Engineer to join the Visible & Infrared Sensor Systems Department (VISSD) in MPD. The role focuses on design, development, AI&T, and characterization of electro-optical sensor payloads for space programs.

You'll work on ground and airborne prototypes and collaborate with customers to ensure mission success. The selected candidate will be based on-site at our El Segundo, CA facility, and must be able to obtain and maintain a US security

Qualifications

Degree in physics, electrical engineering, optics, astronomy, or related field
Eight or more years of industry related experience or time spent obtaining an advanced degree
Strong hardware, laboratory, data analysis, analytical, and software skills
Experience developing engineering analysis methods and tools using Python, MATLAB, IDL or another language
Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with customers and contractor personnel
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

Support activities involving a group of engineers in development of visible and infrared sensor systems for space surveillance and other programs
Provide and direct focal plane array characterization activities and prototype sensor hardware design and AI&T
Coordinate tasking, report progress, resolve technical issues, and assure project success
