Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation's VISSD team seeks an Electro-Optical Engineer to help design, test, and integrate visible and infrared sensor payloads for space surveillance. You will lead FPA characterization and prototype hardware AI&T, working closely with DoD and civil space customers to ensure mission success.

On-site at El Segundo, CA, the role requires a degree in physics/EE/optics/astronomy, 2+ years' experience, and the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in physics, electrical engineering, optics, astronomy or related field.
• Two or more years of industry experience or time spent on advanced degree.
• Strong hardware, laboratory, data analysis, analytical, and software skills.
• Experience developing engineering analysis methods and tools using Python, MATLAB, IDL.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with customers and contractors.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance (US citizenship required).
• Senior role: four+ years of experience or advanced degree.
• Demonstrated ownership of one or more technical projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Support activities involving a group of engineers for visible/infrared sensor systems for space surveillance and related programs.
• Lead FPA characterization and prototype sensor hardware design and AI&T activities.
• Coordinate with program offices and customers to align tasks, report progress, and resolve technical issues.
