SALARY

LOCATION

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications MUST be met and clearly detailed in the application form on or before the last filing date:

• Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a closely related field, OR
• Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, or a closely related field, AND two (2) years of full-time paid experience as a journey-level Electrician providing training equivalent to an apprenticeship program, OR
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, AND four (4) years of full-time paid experience as a journey-level Electrician providing training equivalent to an apprenticeship program.

SPECIAL NOTES

• Apprenticeship training or technical courses in the electrical trade, including military training, may be substituted for the above training and experience on a year-to-year basis.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license throughout employment.

DUTIES

• Perform skilled electrical work involving installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, equipment, and devices to ensure proper operation.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and devices in all city-owned facilities, pumping stations, and street lighting. May also be required to assemble plant equipment after repairs.
• Work under general supervision from the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works, with direct supervision from the DPW Business Manager, and exercise supervision over Electricians or Maintenance Mechanics assisting with projects.
