Black & Veatch Family of Companies in Dallas, TX seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer for water/wastewater projects. Lead electrical design, provide client-guided technical direction, and support business development.

The role covers power distribution, coordination with design teams, and startup/testing activities as needed. Ideal candidates bring 11+ years of electrical design experience, a TX PE license (or US equivalence), and strong skills in SKM/ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (ABET-accredited) required or equivalent
• Minimum 11 years related work experience in electrical design for water/wastewater
• Professional Engineer license in TX or another US jurisdiction preferred
• Experience with medium and low voltage power distribution equipment (VFDs, diesel gensets)
• Experience in client-facing/business development and project BD support
• Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP or similar software a plus

The Opportunity

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

• Lead Electrical design for water/wastewater projects
• Provide technical guidance on client standards and expectations to engineering and technician staff in the regional design centers that are supporting project detailed design
• Serve as technical expert in electrical power distribution and miscellaneous plant electrical systems for client consultations
• Support business development related to enhanced Electrical services
• Build business relationships with clients to understand needs and drivers

Additional Project Opportunities:

• Studies – Energy Optimization, Power System Coordination and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis, and Electrical Reliability Analysis
• Construction inspection and resolution of electrical construction issues
• Coordination with local electrical utilities on project technical needs
• Review of supplier submittals
• Act as a liaison between the local design team, client and remote design teams for Instrumentation and Control design
• Startup and testing of major electrical equipment

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer’s license in TX or another US jurisdiction
• 11 years in electrical design, planning and construction services
• Consulting and Water/Wastewater experience preferred
• Experience in medium and low voltage power distribution equipment, including variable frequency drives and standby diesel generators
• Experience in a client-facing/business development role
• Power system analysis experience in SKM, ETAP, or other analysis software a plus

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing or equivalent experience in Engineering work. Minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Holds an active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements for BV projects in applicable countries, and supports where necessary.
