Job summary

City of Melbourne, FL seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to perform advanced electrical trade, motor control, instrumentation, and maintenance for the water reclamation process. The role requires planning and executing projects, troubleshooting network communications, and calibration of electronic instrumentation, with readiness for emergency call-out and disaster response.

The incumbent will develop wiring diagrams, maintain records, and support budgeting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of experience operating, maintaining, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment at water/wastewater facilities as an electrician, or eight years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical installations.
• Brevard County Journeyman License or the ability to obtain within six months of employment.
• Must possess a valid State of Florida Driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, installs, alters, repairs and maintains motors, generators, switchgear, motor controllers, transformers, wiring systems, lighting, and electronics.
• Identifies issues with the treatment process related to electrical, signal, control, and communication systems.
• Prepares preliminary cost estimates for materials, supplies and equipment for proposed construction or renovation.
• Assists in the procurement and evaluation of professional services related to water/wastewater treatment facility electrical and SCADA control processes.
• Maintains accurate records and logs of operation, repair, maintenance, and calibration of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and other related materials.
• Develops and maintains schematic wiring diagrams for all electrical and electronic systems.
• Displays initiative and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently.
• Contributes to budgeting and planning for Division operational and capital improvements.
