Our inspection, metrology, and analytics systems detect and monitor defects across logic and memory chips, specialty semiconductors, wafers, reticles, advanced packaging, process equipment and materials. We also develop technologies for specialty processes, IC substrates, and PCB manufacturing, including etch and deposition, component inspection, and imaging and analytics. The SPTS division provides advanced wafer processing solutions—including etch, deposition and vapor‑based technologies—designed for R&D through high‑volume production. With a global presence and strong customer support network, SPTS helps manufacturers across industries improve performance, yield and cost‑efficiency. It also offers comprehensive service and spare parts through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high‑impact work across your area of expertise. At KLA, we develop industry‑leading equipment and technologies that enable innovation across the semiconductor industry. Our teams solve complex engineering challenges that help customers manufacture faster, more powerful, and more efficient electronic devices. We are seeking a hands‑on position to support multiple semiconductor process equipment platforms, including advanced etch and deposition systems. This role combines electrical system design, product safety, regulatory compliance, sustaining engineering, and new product development. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on electrical engineer that has a strong interest in and willingness to lead product safety and compliance efforts.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for the electrical design, product & safety compliance, and long‑term support of electrical systems in semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Electrical Systems Design & Sustaining
  • Specify and integrate electrical components including power supplies, sensors, relays, circuit protection devices, heaters, temperature control hardware, and motion‑control elements
  • Develop equipment protection strategies and electrical safety functions such as emergency stops, safety interlocks, and grounding systems
  • Evaluate new technologies and alternative components to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost
  • Support field electrical troubleshooting escalations when required
Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Lead product safety and compliance initiatives across multiple equipment platforms
  • Interpret and implement industry standards including SEMI, CE, IEC, NFPA, UL, and customer‑specific requirements
  • Conduct compliance assessments, design reviews, gap analyses, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations
  • Partner with certification bodies and testing organizations to achieve product certifications and maintain compliance documentation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, manufacturing equipment, or other similar electromechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and design electrical systems and equipment to regulatory standards (i.e., 60204‑1, NFPA 79, UL 508A)
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, power distribution, controls, and electrical safety
  • Experience selecting, integrating, and troubleshooting electrical components and subsystems
  • Travel requirement for 15 to 20%
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a liaison with 3rd party assessors to achieve and maintain equipment certifications (i.e., CE mark, EMC)
  • Experience assessing and designing safety interlock circuits with performance levels required by ISO 13849
  • Working knowledge of SEMI S2, CE, IEC, NFPA, UL, ISO 13849, and other product compliance standards
  • Experience performing machine safety risk assessments and hazard analyses (i.e., 12100, FMEA)
  • Experience using Sistema for Performance Level (PL) and functional safety evaluations
