Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL seeks a Senior Electrical System Design Engineer to lead system-level electrical architecture and design across aerospace and military programs. You will create block diagrams, define requirements, select components, and verify new hardware through testing.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, interpret schematics, and support system integration while contributing to a fast-paced, learning-focused environment in support of national security missions.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of hardware system design and test experience.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities.
• Able to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
• Effective verbal and written communication within a team.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
• Cable design experience.
• Hands-on lab experience with instrumentation and test equipment.
• Self-starter capable of working independently.
• Willing to relocate to Huntsville, AL area.

Leidos’ Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Senior Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

Primary Responsibilities.

• System level electrical architecture and design
• Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
• Component selection and derating activities
• New hardware design verification testing
• Support system level integration activities

Basic Qualifications.

• Candidate must possess aBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Candidate must have8+years of experienceinhardware system design and test from architecture through implementation
• Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
• Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
• Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
• Candidate must have cable design experience
• Candidate must haveproven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
• Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
• Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Preferred Qualifications.

• Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
• Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
• Experience supporting cable production
• Experience with high power applications
• Familiarity with AS50881 NASA Derating Standard
• Cable design experience using SolidWorks Electrical, Creo Schematic, Draftsight, or Microsoft Visio
• Experience with special test equipment design/architecture to facilitate production testing of MIL rated components.
• Experience designing high-power AC electrical distribution systems including generators, UPS systems, transformers, circuit protection, and custom control panels
