Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team creating hardware solutions for aerospace and defense programs.

You will lead system-level architecture, develop block diagrams and cable drawings, select components, and verify new designs through hands-on testing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from ABET-accredited institution.
• 2+ years of hardware system design and test experience through architecture to implementation, or MS degree.
• Experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis.
• Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively within a team.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
• Cable design experience.
• Understanding of fundamental circuits and components.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation and debugging methods.
• Self-starter capable of working independently.
• Residence in North Alabama or willingness to relocate to Huntsville-North Alabama area.

Leidos’ Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

Primary Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Candidate must have 2+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or MS degree.
• Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
• Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
• Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
• Candidate must have cable design experience
• Candidate must have proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
• Candidate must have hands‑on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
• Candidate must be a self‑starter with the ability to work independently
• Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
• Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
• Experience supporting cable production
• Experience with high power applications

Pay Range:

Pay Range $69,550.00 - $125,725.00
