Responsibilities:

1. The Senior Electrical Substation Project Engineer is responsible for all aspects of HV/EHV substation design including:
2. Leading and coordinating all technical aspects of AC power substation projects.
3. Providing clear direction, expectations, and reviews to ensure goals are met or exceeded.
4. Identifying key internal & external stakeholders and their needs such as technical information, execution strategy, and driving effective communications to align people for efficient work.
5. Directing the efforts of engineers and designers, coordinating with sourcing and the project team on technical matters to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives.
6. Interface with internal and external team members such as Principal engineers, Protection and Control Engineers, Civil Structural Engineers, Electrical Physical Designers, Draftsmen, Project Managers, and support organizations.
7. Developing the HV/EHV single line diagrams and substation outdoor physical design.
8. Overseeing related studies and calculations, as well as development of the bills of material.
9. Writing high voltage equipment specifications and issuing material purchase request forms, and vendor quotation evaluation for substation equipment.
10. Developing scope of work documents with deliverables and schedule for subcontracted engineering work and overseeing the successful completion of the work.
11. Acting as the single point of contact for technical issues for the customer and project manager.
12. Responsible for technical change and risk management and overseeing the technical scope completeness for project commercial closure.
13. Accountable for the quality of self and team’s deliverables.
14. Providing direction on development of engineering schedules, tracking, and monitoring deliverables to meet “On time Delivery” and “Say Do Ratio” KPIs.
15. Leading Gate and Design Reviews.
16. Working on the development of proposals including writing and/or reviewing technical specifications, estimating design man-hours and materials, and directing designers and draftsmen on drawing requirements.
17. Defining processes, procedures, and a LEAN approach to perform Root Cause Analysis, perform corrective actions, and validate process control.

Required Qualifications:

1. Minimum ten (10) years experience in industrial, renewable, or utility HV & EHV substation design.
2. Professional Engineering license in the United States, and willing to review and seal drawings.
3. Ability and willingness to travel 20% of the time, including international.

Desired Characteristics:

1. Excellent computer skills, including automation tools and software development, and familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD) and/or 3D CAD packages with BIM.
2. Experience with HVDC or FACTS plant engineering.
3. Working knowledge of applicable design calculations.
4. Knowledge of power system studies.
5. Experience with GIS substation projects, as well as AIS.
6. Knowledge of and experience using IEEE and ANSI standards and codes.
7. Field testing and commissioning experience.
8. Demonstrated electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability.
9. Designs solutions with Field Constructability & a safety mindset.
10. Self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills.
11. Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs.

The salary range for this position is 131,700.00 - 175,500.00 USD Annually. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
