Job description

Senior Electrical Designer – Wilkes-Barre, PA

Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA.

What You'll Do:

• Lead the design process for complex projects such as design of branch circuit layout, panel scheduling, grounding plans, electrical area classification plans, and power distribution design.
• Design and layout engineering drawings, performing drafting and design as needed.
• Lead and mentor design teams while reviewing and ensuring the quality of engineering sketches, drawings, specifications, and related deliverables.
• Ensure all design work complies with industry standards, project guidelines, NEC, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, and suppliers to understand their needs, objectives, and vision for the design.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to document existing conditions and ensure design integrity and quality (travel estimated 10%).
• Prepare and manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
• Stay updated with the latest design trends, techniques, and technologies.
• Provide technical expertise and problem‑solving support throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Bring:

• An Associate or Engineering Degree.
• 7+ years of relevant design experience.
• Proficiency in designing in AutoCAD (Revit or Plant3D experience is a plus).
• Experience with ETAP and/or SKM Power Analysis Software is a plus.
• Experience with voltage drop calculations and appropriate cable sizing for electrical systems.
• Proficiency in NEC code design standards.
• Ability to work independently on projects.
• Ability to specify portions of the engineering systems based on past experience.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary: $45 per hour (negotiable based on qualifications). The minimum pay for this position is $45 per hour.
