Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in the United States is seeking a Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of high-reliability electrical systems for FOAK facilities and power plants. You will perform advanced studies, develop deliverables, specify equipment, and ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards, while coordinating with suppliers and grid operators.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • US PE license or CA PEng or equivalent international license.
  • 7+ years in heavy/high-reliability industries (nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military).
  • Experience with electrical design deliverables and software tools (ETAP, MS Office).

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and integration of safety-related electrical systems (SC1/SC2/SC3).
  • Perform electrical studies: load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination.
  • Prepare electrical deliverables: specifications, load lists, one-lines, calculations, schematics.
  • Develop procurement specs for transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS; collaborate with suppliers.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with CA-CNSC and US-NRC standards.
  • Coordinate grid interconnections and generator interconnection agreements.
  • Apply US/CA codes and standards: IEEE, IEC, NEC; EU standards where applicable.

Job description

Capgemini Engineering are actively looking for Senior Electrical Power Systems Engineer with senior level knowledge, skill, and experience in the challenging space of; large, complex, high- reliability, highly regulated industry and first of a kind (FOAK) new facility or power plant design.

Your role
  • System Architecture: Lead the design and integration of SC1/Class 1E (safety-related) and SC2 and SC3 electrical systems, including Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution.
  • Analysis & Modeling: Perform complex electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting, and protective relay coordination using ETAP software using ANSI / IEC standards.
  • Prepare Electrical Engineer Deliverables: Prepare electrical engineering deliverables such as Requirements Specifications, Electrical Load Lists, One-lines, Calculations, Schematics and 3-Line lines. Ensure deliverables are on-spec., on-budget, and on-schedule.
  • Equipment Specification: Develop detailed procurement specifications for major components, including main transformers, switchgear, diesel generators, and UPS systems and collaborate with suppliers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Navigate regulatory requirements (CA-CNSC and US-NRC), support licensing processes, ensuring all designs meet nuclear-specific standards.
  • Grid Integration: Interface with transmission providers to manage Generator Interconnection Agreements and ensure grid stability compliance.
  • Compliance with Codes and standards: Applications of codes and standards applicable to electrical systems design in the US and CA (e.g.; IEEE, IEC, CSA and NEC); European Union (e.g., IEC, EU)
Your skills and experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineering License: US (PE) or CA (PEng) or Equal international
  • Experience: 7+ years in heavy and high reliability industries such as; nuclear, power, process, marine, oil & gas, military, etc.
  • Experience: Excellent PC as well as productivity software [e.g.; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project, Visio].
