Job summary

NTH Consultants, Ltd. seeks a Senior Electrical Power Systems Designer for our Grand Rapids office, with potential consideration for other Michigan offices.

You will design, lay out, and draft power distribution systems, substations, and control panels, collaborating with engineers and CAD staff. You should bring experience with CAD tools like AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit, knowledge of electrical design standards, and a track record of delivering constructible designs.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently in utility, industrial, and construction environments.
• Familiarity with utility electrical equipment, installations, and clearances.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, Revit, or similar CAD software.
• Familiarity with utility/industrial electrical design standards.
• Familiarity with design deliverables including one-lines, schematics, grounding, and equipment layouts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; able to work in teams and with clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare CAD layouts of electrical systems.
• Develop CAD standards, templates, and SOPs.
• Coordinate CAD work across divisions and teams.
• Travel independently to job sites when needed to inspect designs or equipment.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians in electrical design and CAD.
