Job summary

SGS is seeking an Experienced Electrical Inspector (Contract) to support a carbon capture and storage project in the Muncie / Union City area of Indiana. The role requires practical proficiency in electrical systems and IC&E, with the ability to inspect, diagnose, and report daily on field activities.

The assignment is planned to continue through June 2027, with potential for future work on subsequent projects.

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma or trade certification in Electrical/Mechanical Journeyman; Red Seal or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated inspection experience with industrial electrical systems.
• Proficiency in instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems (IC&E).
• Experience with Rosemount instrumentation and Allen-Bradley controls.
• Experience supporting equipment startup or commissioning activities.
• Owner/third-party inspection experience; ability to read drawings and identify discrepancies.
• Strong NEC knowledge.
• Able to work with contractors, vendors, and startup teams.
• Excellent written communication and daily reporting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect third-party contractors’ electrical, instrumentation, and controls work.
• Monitor installation activities and verify NEC compliance.
• Review drawings and identify discrepancies and constructability concerns.
• Inspect electrical systems including MCCs, cable trays, supports, and wellhead area.
• Apply instrumentation and controls knowledge when reviewing field installations.
• Work with multiple vendors and coordinate with startup and commissioning team.
• Interface with contractor management on inspection findings.
• Complete accurate daily reports documenting progress.
• Help resolve field issues using internal IC&E knowledge.
• Maintain field presence through construction, startup, and commissioning.
