Job summary

SGS is seeking an Experienced Electrical Inspector (Contract) to support a carbon capture and storage project in the Muncie / Union City area of Indiana. The role focuses on representing the owner's side, inspecting third‑party contractor work, and ensuring compliance with NEC and IC&E standards throughout construction, startup, and commissioning.

The ideal candidate will have practical electrical and instrumentation knowledge, strong reporting skills, and the ability to coordinate with vendors

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma or trade certification in Electrical/Mechanical Journeyman or Millwright, and/or a certification as a discipline engineer/technician/journeyman red seal.
• Demonstrated inspection experience with industrial electrical systems.
• Proficiency in instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems (IC&E).
• Experience with Rosemount instrumentation and Allen-Bradley controls is a definite asset.
• Experience supporting equipment startup or commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect third-party contractors’ electrical, instrumentation, and controls work.
• Monitor installation activities and verify NEC compliance with project requirements.
• Review drawings and identify discrepancies or constructability concerns with feedback to the team.
• Inspect electrical systems and related equipment (MCCs, cable trays, supports) across project buildings and wellhead area.
• Apply IC&E knowledge when reviewing field installations and diagnosing concerns.
• Coordinate with multiple vendors and the startup/commissioning team.
• Document daily inspection findings and contractor interactions in reports.
• Assist in resolving field issues using electrical/IC&E knowledge.
