Job summary

Envista Forensics is seeking an Electrical Engineer to conduct forensic investigations related to electrical incidents and failures across industrial, commercial, and residential settings. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to determine root causes, document property damage, and support complex legal and insurance matters.

The role involves researching failure modes, preparing detailed reports, and providing deposition and expert testimony in product liability cases as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent discipline required.
• 5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering field.
• PE in state of employment or ability to obtain one within 12 months.
• Willingness to travel to clients’ sites (25-30%).
• 5 years’ experience evaluating electrical failures in a commercial or industrial setting preferred.
• Power systems experience (generators, transformers, switchgear, etc.) is a plus; Electro-mechanical experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Investigate electrical failures, defects, or damage in industrial, commercial, and residential settings. Determine causes of electrical system failures and assess design/construction quality or maintenance procedures.
• Lead field investigations and document property damage for multi-party examinations. Collaborate on large, complex projects within multi-disciplinary teams.
• Research failure modes and provide repair or remediation recommendations; Prepare reports and letters detailing the cause of damage for clients.
• Provide deposition and expert testimony in product liability for civil, federal, and occasional criminal court cases to testify about damages and professional liability.
