Job summary
Jobot in Downers Grove, IL is seeking an Electrical Estimator to support preconstruction and bids for medium- and high-voltage power delivery projects. This role develops accurate cost estimates for substations and interfaces with engineering, PM, and procurement to ensure competitive, technically sound bids.
Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s in Engineering or related field and 3+ years estimating experience, especially substations; proficiency with estimating software and Excel is
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of estimating or project experience within power delivery, utilities, or heavy electrical construction.
- Experience estimating substation projects.
- Strong understanding of substation components such as transformers, breakers, bus systems, protection & control, grounding, and structural systems.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, one-lines, and construction specifications.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.

- Develop accurate cost estimates for substation construction, expansion, and modernization projects.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and procurement to ensure competitive bids.
- Support preconstruction and proposal development activities.
