Job summary

RK Industries is seeking a senior estimator mentor in Denver to guide the Estimating team through bid preparation and preconstruction processes. You will verify bid readiness, develop trend pricing, and prepare conceptual budgets while coordinating scope with internal teams and external vendors.

The role requires leadership, clear communication, and estimating expertise to deliver accurate, competitive bids.

Qualifications

• College/University graduate preferred with 10 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience with proven specialist expertise including fiscal responsibilities.
• Responsible for a single department or functional area either as a manager or functional expert.
• Initiates and maintains relationships with key staff and other departments.
• Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations having important impact on activities of the company.
• Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented complexities.
• Determines program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects and developing standards and guidelines for diverse activities.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train Estimators to ensure bid readiness.
• Verify Estimating team is prepared for the bid and pre-close bid tabs.
• Prepare trend pricing for projects in Preconstruction and provide conceptual budgetary pricing.
• Coordinate and clarify scope internally and externally; liaison between Estimating and Operations.
• Assist Preconstruction during project turnover to Operations.
• Track productivity on past projects and follow up on past awards.
• Fill in minor and major scope/design gaps and provide detailed breakouts for customers.
• Review all project documents and identify scope of work.
• Perform material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
• Clarify scope with General Contractor and Engineer; obtain quotes and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors.
• Assemble the bid tab with estimates and vendor quotes; verify estimate accuracy against similar bids.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and other duties as assigned.
