The Senior Estimator will also support project planning, mentor estimating team members, and help improve the company’s estimating standards and processes.

The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of electrical construction, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to develop competitive estimates without sacrificing project quality, safety, or profitability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications, addenda, schedules, and other bid documents to determine the complete electrical scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed material and labor takeoffs for commercial and industrial electrical projects.
  • Develop estimates for lighting, power distribution, switchgear, generators, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, site electrical work, underground infrastructure, and related electrical systems.
  • Analyze labor requirements, material costs, equipment needs, subcontractor pricing, project schedules, and site conditions.
  • Solicit, review, and compare proposals from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Identify exclusions, clarifications, alternates, allowances, value-engineering opportunities, and potential project risks.
  • Prepare complete and professional bid proposals, scope letters, and supporting documentation.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, bid reviews, and project planning meetings.
  • Coordinate with company leadership to determine project approach, staffing requirements, overhead, fee, and bid strategy.
  • Maintain relationships with general contractors, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and other industry partners.
  • Track bid results and analyze estimated costs compared with actual project performance.
  • Participate in the turnover of awarded projects from estimating to project management and field operations.
  • Clearly communicate project scope, assumptions, risks, and key cost considerations during project handoff meetings.
  • Assist project managers with change-order estimates and cost evaluations as needed.
  • Maintain organized and complete estimating files, pricing information, historical cost data, and bid records.
  • Help develop and maintain estimating templates, labor units, cost databases, bid procedures, and quality-control standards.
  • Monitor market conditions, labor rates, material pricing, supply-chain concerns, and industry trends that may affect project costs.
  • Review the work of other estimators and provide guidance, training, and mentorship.
  • Support client growth by identifying appropriate bid opportunities and helping the company pursue profitable, strategically aligned projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical construction estimating, project management, or related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and sequencing.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, schedules, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code and applicable construction standards.
  • Experience completing detailed electrical takeoffs and preparing multimillion-dollar project estimates.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, switchgear, emergency power, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and underground electrical work.
  • Proficiency with electrical estimating software, digital takeoff programs, Microsoft Excel, and other standard business applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with company leadership, project managers, field leaders, vendors, and customers.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites and pre-bid meetings as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
